Environmental Impact Assessment and Renewable Energy

Virtual training-discussion on “Environmental Impact Assessment and Renewable Energy” held on June 28, 2020. The 11 members of WG 3 actively participated in the virtual discussion. 
The virtual discussion, organized by the second working group of the Azerbaijan Network of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum of the European Union, was opened by Sabina Alakbarova, coordinator of the project "Restart: Civil Society Strengthening Initiative in Azerbaijan". She informed the participants about the importance of the topic of the webinar and the fact that the project will hold separate meetings for 5 groups.


Then the moderator Ilgar Huseynli  informed the participants about the short program of the Webinar and moved on to the presentation.


Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Ornithological Society ElchinSultanov made a detailed presentation on "Environmental Impact Assessment and Renewable Energy" for 40 minutes.


After that, the Head of the Himayadar PU Himayat Rizavn the head of the Ecoalam PU Sevil Yuzbasheva and the head of the Beeco PU InjaAliyeva asked their questions and the general discussion began.


Himayat Rizvangizi spoke about the projects implemented in Azerbaijan on renewable energy sources. Sevil Yuzbasheva expressed concern over the lack of water in the Kura river, which is the main water resource of the country. Faig  Alishanov, Chairman of the Innovation Center for Identifying Environmental Problems, spoke about the importance of implementing innovations in the field of ecology in Azerbaijan. Trainer Elchin Sultanov answered all the questions and suggested the establishment of a working group on EIA within the 3rd group in the future and an additional online meeting on this topic in the near future. Project Coordinator Sabina Alakbarova offered to support in conduction the meeting.


A total of 11 people participated in the training discussion, including 3 members of the Azerbaijan Ornithological Society, 3 members of the Innovation Center for Identifying Environmental Problems, 1 member each from the Guardian, Beeco, Ecoalam and Ecologist PU, as well as a project coordinator and assistant.


d) With the support of the EaP Civil Society Facility-Regional Action project expert SvetalanaDjukic we organized the webinar on “How to Develop a Good Project and what is the grant policy of the EU ”.  26 members of Working Groups four and five participated in the webinar which was held on June 30th, 2020. During the span of 90 minutes expert Svetlana Djukic gave information about the tools and methodologies of EU proposal writing, focusing on the  logical framework approach. During the webinar participants were also equipped with knowledge on:

-    Sources of Verification


-    Stakeholders Analysis Matrix 


-    Activity Matrix


-    The Concept Note and Full Proposal


-    Financial Support to Third Parties and ect


Taking into consideration the request of the participants, the expert of the webinar with the support of the project staff conducted a list of funding opportunities for NGOs in Azerbaijan and informed participants about the financial eligibility for EU grant applicants.
